sorry for the noise.

my current shell session time zone (TZ) differed from the system timezone. as soon as i corrected TZ in the shell config files, started a new shell session, and then started a new instance of alpine, i was prompted for the passfile master password and all is now well. account credentials on this new host are now persistent.

if the timezone correction is a false correlation with the behaviour change, then what caused the behaviour change?

could this problem be a possible bug, or perhaps a case of a missing and helpful error message?

Subject: [Alpine-info] account password persistence

i build alpine from source and specify absolute path for the passfile.
when quitting the alpine instance, i am not prompted for a master password to
keep any account credentials persistent.

this persistence is functional on other hosts in my network; why not this host?

build sequence is identical; source is identical; ~/.pinerc is identical.
something is clearly different, but i have not been able to find the difference.
would anyone have knowledge about what i need to fix?

thanks.
