I have tried to install ALSA, but it doesn't work. The installation seemed to be OK:
cat /proc/asound/cards 0 [0 ]: ICH - Intel ICH 82801AA Intel ICH 82801AA at 0x1200, irq 9 cat sndstat Sound Driver:3.8.2-980706 (ALSA v0.5.12a emulation code) Kernel: Linux localhost.localdomain 2.4.8-26mdk #1 Sun Sep 23 17:06:39 CEST 2001 i686 Config options: 0 Installed drivers: Type 10: ALSA emulation Card config: Intel ICH 82801AA at 0x1200, irq 9 Audio devices: 0: Intel ICH (DUPLEX) Synth devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG Midi devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG Timers: 7: system timer Mixers: 0: Cirrus Logic CS4299 rev D. But alsamixer and alsaplayer don't work: alsamixer failed to open mixer #0/#0: No such file or directory amixer The ALSA sound driver was not detected in this system. In fact, in proc/asound, I have broken links "0". I am unable to remove it rm, unlink, rmdir, even in root give: "too many symbolic links". Typing namei,i see a loop of symlinks (0->0) How to break it? Note that I am using devfs with the following lines added: LOOKUP snd MODLOAD ACTION snd REGISTER sound/.* PERMISSIONS root.audio 660 REGISTER snd/.* PERMISSIONS root.audio 660 _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
