I have a working set of Alsa drivers, but I have to use gmix in Red Hat 7.2 to unmute the sound each time. I get this error when I try to execute alsamixer "alsamixer: failed to open mixer #0/#0 : Success" - no GUI comes up.
my sound card is correctly listed in the /proc/asound/cards file and lsmod indicates that the driver has loaded the 10 or so modules it needs. Any ideas? Also, what settings to I need for the /etc/alsa.conf file? I haven't seen and documentation regarding how to create or configure this file. thanks, Chris
