It's taken me a few weeks to finally get confirmation that
what was the "loopback" feature of v0.5 is no longer available
in ALSA v0.9. "use jack" has been suggested a couple of times
but I have no idea how to do so, as the only JACK info I've
seen are programmers docs without any examples of usage. It
also locks up my machine (hope to get to see Ardour one day).

I notice there are copy, file and tee options available from
an .asoundrc but I've yet to come across any info on how to
actually use these options so my question is:

. can the copy, file or tee options in .asoundrc be used to
emulate the loopback feature of 0.5 and allow me to capture
any PCM output to a local file ?
