That's several layers of complexity more than I want. All that implies
that I've got working 4-channel reading working from the DVD, and that
the DVD properly supports 4-channel in a way that ogle/xine can read.

I've since got myself an SB Live to test (which I'll return if this
doesn't work out), and still things don't seem to be working right (in
ALSA or OSS). I'd really like to narrow this down to "not the dvd
player's problem", so that I can focus on getting the card working
properly.
