What version of the kernel do you have, 2.5.47?
I have onboard sound that also uses the intel8x0 driver.
Backup, delete: /lib/modules/2.*/kernel/sound/
Maybe something was left in that directory.
I think a fresh install of Alsa might help.
I'm just guessing.
