In article <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, I wrote [ re. SBLive issues ]
I cracked this. Everything appeared to be working (right down to the status values in /proc/asound getting updated when something was playing) - just no sound out of the speakers. Finally, in desperation, I tried random fiddling with the plugs at the back of the sound card: the SBLive (my version anyway) supports four speakers, and guess what? I found when I swapped the speaker output lead from one output socket to the other, I suddenly got sound. (The emu10k1 driver built into the kernel seems to enable both by default, but the alsa driver only enables no.1. (So far, I've not found a way of getting the alsa driver to enable no.2.)) Duhhhhhhhhhhh. I really should have tried that earlier ... -- Peter Duffy ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.NET email is sponsored by: SourceForge Enterprise Edition + IBM + LinuxWorld = Something 2 See! http://www.vasoftware.com _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
