i tried this aplay -N -f dat foo.wav
and the error "aplay: pcm_write:1025: write error: Input/output error." does not appear, but the repeating of the sample still occurs. using redhat 8.0. i didn't look into it a great deal but i think the new alsa driver did something to my cd player. when i tried to boot up again the cd player was not recognized by linux or windows. i had to take a paperclip and manually open it. after that linux recognized the drive. is it possible that alsa interferred with the cd drive? i haven't tried to duplicate the error because it makes me very nervous to have the cd player do that. any help would be appreciated. -------Original Message------- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 03/11/03 08:19 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Alsa-user] alsa 0.9.1 and via82xx > > i just downloaded the new version of alsa. sound from line is ok, i lost sound from the CD, and i still receive the continual looping over a small segment of sound. using aplay produces aplay: pcm_write:1025: write error: Input/output error. mark mueller wrote something like Set to ALSA as the default driver.
