Hi all, I just installed Mandrake 9.1 and have a C-Media CM8738 sound "card". This uses the cmipci driver. I was having problems with 0.9.0 ALSA that came with Drake so I followed the instructions at the alsa-project.org website for this driver. Everything was going smoothly until I did the 'make install'. When this cmd was entered I always get:
/sbin/depmod -a 2.4.21-0.13mdk depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.21-0.13mdk/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o This is the only error msg I get. However it seems the snd.o WAS compiled along with everything else: [EMAIL PROTECTED] alsa-driver-0.9.3c]# ls -l /lib/modules/2.4.21-0.13mdk/kernel/sound/acore/ total 240 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 May 28 19:52 oss/ drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 May 28 19:52 seq/ -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 9388 May 28 19:52 snd-hwdep.o -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 53492 May 28 19:52 snd.o -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 11007 May 28 19:52 snd-page-alloc.o -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 97344 May 28 19:52 snd-pcm.o -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 23045 May 28 19:52 snd-rawmidi.o -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 24071 May 28 19:52 snd-timer.o [EMAIL PROTECTED] alsa-driver-0.9.3c]# If I ignore it and continue, the modules won't load, again complaining about unresolved symbols. During the ./configure and make I got a lot of "warning: this is the location of the previous definition" and "make[2]: Nothing to be done for 'modules'", but I don't think these are problems. I did get the "ALSA modules were successfully compiled." msg. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Josh __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
