hello list,

i'm still having some trouble getting the EMI to work with alsa, and wondered if anyone might be able to help. i'm using 2.4.19 debian sid with alsa 0.9.6 on a powerbook g3 500. all modules are properly loaded, included the emi 2|6 firmware loader, and the card shows up fine in /proc/asound/card1 (it's configured as a second card with the internal soundcard as card0).

when i try to play anything through it (using aplay, pd, or xmms), i get an error about 'invalid sample format.' taking a look at /proc/asound/card1/stream0 i see that the card sample formats are S16_LE and S24_LE with sample rates 44100, 48000, and 96000. i'm guessing i need some way to convert from an acceptable sample format into one of these formats -- could someone enlighten me as to how to do that? i tried using jackd but it spits out an error about unacceptable sample formats too..

(sorry i can't provide my /etc/modules.conf or the full 'cat /proc/asound/card1/stream0 - i'm not at my powerbook right now -- but i'm fairly sure these are set up ok, since the card is recognized on bootup and assigned to usb-audio, and it shows up properly using alsamixer).

thanks for any help!

best,
nick
