I have a Dell Dimension 4300 PC with RH9 installed on it.
I wouldn't probaly send this email is the OSS drivers will work for capture.
I recently installed a Pincle miroPCTV board to watch TV and I'm trying to use it as a PVR as well.
Then my problems begin to come up. I didn't care that in aumix my master volume is called PCM2 and
the one labeled Master doesn't work. I could watch TV, perfect image, perfect sound (thanks to TVTime app)
When I tried to capture from the card with sound, I got a lot of frame drops and the resulting avi was
very anoing to watch. Making the link between no sound - perfect frame rate, sound - frame dropped i decided to
install alsa drivers.
I installed everything (driver, lib, utils,tools) , I added the entries in modules.conf . Everything loaded OK.
I used alsamixer to set all mixer controls at the edge of green-red level. (The PCM2 control doesn't show up in alsamixer
and not even in aumix,. It use to be there with the OSS driver)
Suprise: no sound.
What is GOOD now: the framerate for the capture is perfect even that the sound is captured as an imperceptble noise.
In a message on the mailing list it was sugested to get the latest CVS version for my ICH2 onboard sound card.
Since then I tried with the CVS version and the 2.6.0-test5-bk10 kernel and got the same results.
