Sorry, forgot to mention,
Distro: SuSE9 - All updates applied.
Kernel: 2.4.21-144-athlon (havn't got the balls to compile a fresh 2.6.0 just 
yet)
ALSA: 0.9.6-66 (along with devel, tools and doc packages).
