I have installed Fedora on my system and now cannot get ALSA to work :(

I have all the correct RPMs installed and have made the changes to
/etc/modules.conf as specified in the Soundcard Matrix

But when I try to install the modules this happens:

[root]# modprobe snd-cs46xx; modprobe snd-pcm-oss; modprobe
snd-mixer-oss; modprobe snd-seq-oss
/lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2135.nptl/kernel/sound/snd-cs46xx.o: init_module:
No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters,
including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2135.nptl/kernel/sound/snd-cs46xx.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2135.nptl/kernel/sound/snd-cs46xx.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2135.nptl/kernel/sound/snd-cs46xx.o: insmod
snd-cs46xx failed
[root]#

Looking at dmesg gives this:

PCI: Found IRQ 9 for device 00:0b.0
PCI: Sharing IRQ 9 with 00:0f.0
ALSA ../../alsa-kernel/pci/cs46xx/cs46xx_lib.c:3148: create - never read
codec ready from AC'97
ALSA ../../alsa-kernel/pci/cs46xx/cs46xx_lib.c:3149: it is not probably
bug, try to use CS4236 driver
Sound Fusion CS46xx soundcard not found or device busy

I am baffled. Can anyone throw any light on what this all means?
