Hi, this seems to be the same error I get.
see '[Alsa-user] "modprobe snd-ymfpci" results in "init_module: No
such device"' just a few messages before yours. At least I'm not alone
on this.

I didn't change the /etc/modules.conf file yet, since the walk trough
didn't say to do so yet.

Hmm, are you sure you guys do not have any OSS modules loaded? And are
you guys sure, you use the right driver? And are you guys sure that the
module isn't already loaded?

As I said in my post, I simply followed the walk trough. And I don't know enough about the alsa drivers to solve the problem myself.

- The walk trough doesn't say a thing about unloading OSS modules first, and
I don't recall doing that the previous time either.
- The only option is set during configuration of the alsa-drivers is:
"./configure --with-cards=ymfpci --with-sequencer=yes" as told on the walk trough.
I don't see what could be wrong here since I did that too last time. Only difference
is the Mandrake version (now 9.2, then 9.1)
- I don't know how to check whether the module is already loaded. I got this error
first time i tried to load it. So I don't see how it could be loaded.

I would be grateful if someone could tell us how to check our systems
to be sure about the 3 points you mentioned.
