Hi everyone,
I have joined the list, because I just cannot get my soundcard working
on my new laptop. I've installed SuSE 9.0 on it. Everything runs
smoothly, even the modem is working nicely, but that soundcard won't.
I downloaded the alsa lib, drivers, and utils packages, latest version
(1.0.1) and followed the directions on the alsa website.
The compile went well, but when I do 'modprobe snd-intel8x0', I get
this:
linux:/home/vman/download/alsa-utils-1.0.1 # modprobe snd-intel8x0
/lib/modules/2.4.21-166-default/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.o:
init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters,
including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.21-166-default/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.4.21-166-default/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.o failed
/lib/modules/2.4.21-166-default/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0.o: insmod
snd-intel8x0 failed
Under Windoze 2000, the soundcard works just fine. Compaq tech support
told me that the card is an Audio Devices AD1981B, so I'm wondering what
the problem is...
If anyone could shed some light on this, I'd greatly appreciate it !
Best regards,
Volkmar
