(it might be improved on 2.6 kernel, though.) I also heard about something that midi timing can be improved with an real time clock module [rtc], but i don't know about any details. I will again search the ML. Maybe you or someone else can provide some quick pointers though. > > > FAQ016?: My sound crackles when the system is under load. This question came from a user in #alsa. It was about normal applications like aplay and xmms. I suppose the source of the problem was the usb setup, but since i don't know nothing about usb [i don't use it], i was not much of help in this case.. > > > > FAQ020?: "aplay -D rear <soundfile>" fails with "Invalid type for > > PCM rear definition" > > it means that the alsa-lib doesn't support the rear output of your > soundcard yet. usually it's defined in /usr/share/alsa/cards/*.conf. Ok, thanks for the answers :) appreciated. Like Marc Constable i still want to once again mention the importance of the wiki and would like to see more integration with the official docs. I could imagine stuff like providing a wiki link for every official page of documentation, so users have a quick way of discussing things without the hassle of signing up to ML's, etc. Or suggestions of additions to flow bck into the official docs.. Patrick, what do you think about this?
