ALSA 0.9.6 would not capture any recording at all on my Realtek ALC650 rev 3 chip, using the intel8x0 driver. After installing ALSA 1.0.1, it now acts like it's recording, but no matter what, it records noise.
I think I've tried every conceivable permutation in alsamixer, including switching between Mic1 and Mic2. Can someone point me to the latest status of recording in ALSA, particularly with the intel8x0 driver, and what I could do to make this work? At the least, how could I put useful information under the nose of the developer, so he could look at it?
