hi all,
I run a debian SID system
i would like to be able to let xmms, artds, mplayer play sound at the same
time.
I have read and reread and read again the docs on the alsa site regarding dmix
e.a. plugins that allow the above to happen.
I have set up the following asoundrc in my home directory
pcm.dsp0 {
type dmix
ipc_key 1024 # must be unique!
slave {
pcm "hw:0,0" # you cannot use a "plug" device here, darn.
period_time 0
period_size 1024 # must be power of 2
buffer_size 8192 # dito. It
rate 44100
#format "S32_LE"
#periods 128 # dito.
#rate 8000 # with rate 8000 you *will* hear,
# if ossmix is used :)
}
}
pcm.dsp1 {
type dmix
ipc_key 1025 # must be unique!
slave {
pcm "hw:0,1" # you cannot use a "plug" device here, darn.
period_time 0
period_size 1024 # must be power of 2
buffer_size 8192 # dito. It
rate 44100
#format "S32_LE"
#periods 128 # dito.
#rate 8000 # with rate 8000 you *will* hear,
# if ossmix is used :)
}
}
pcm.intel8x0 {
type hw
card 0
}
ctl.intel8x0 {
type hw
card 0
}
with this config I can only get xmms to play on dsp0 but not on dsp1 and artsd
does not play at all. Alsaplayer when playing a wav produces some sound on
dsp0 (not on dsp1 and not on hw:0,0 nor hw:0,1) but that sound is not what is
should be (sounds more like noise)
What should the above configuration really be ? Please do not refer me to docs
because I have read them and even tried the configs there but utterly failed.
Desperately
W
