I've tried for several weeks now, but cannot get my PDAudioCF card to actually record. The card is recognized and everything else seems fine, but I always immediately get the error:
arecord: pcm_read:1164: read error: Input/Output error
when I attempt to record from the card.
- None of the LEDs on the PDAudioCF card ever light up. - I'm running x86 (redhat based) 2.4.24 and alsa 1.0.3 on a Compaq laptop. The built-in sound card works great and also works with arecord and mpg321. - I am using optical cable between the MIC2496 and the PDAudioCF card, and I can see red light at the end of the cable before I plug it in. - I have tried 3 different types of mics (active, passive, dynamic, etc.) - I literally have to smack the mic against a hard surface before the 'activity' LED on the MIC2496 lights up, even at full volume. Is this normal ??
Half a dozen requests for info and help from core-sound have gone unanswered for nearly a month- are there any users who have ever gotten one of these things to actually work on x86. I've either got DOA hardware or am doing something really dumb here........
