Now that makes sense. When using mplayer alsamixer had no effect on the
volume level but when using alsaplayer or mythtv I could adjust the volume
level but is was still very low.  The mplayer behavior is fine for me, now I
just need to figure out how to get mythtv and alsaplayer to behave the same
way :)
