Could anyone list all what needs face lifting?

I have earlier written about the following name changes,
but don't know if they have been changed already. I have
driver 1.0.0pre3.

   Bad names               Proposed good names
   ---------------------------------------------------
   Line LiveDrive          Line2/Mic2 LiveDrive
   Line LiveDrive Capture Line2/Mic2 LiveDrive Capture
   Line2 LiveDrive 1       Aux2 LiveDrive
   Line2 LiveDrive         Aux2 LiveDrive Capture

>>>Why line out control called "Wave Sur"?

The name is "Wave Surround" as seen at the top part of the
alsamixer. The cutoff names are seen in the botton because
there is no room for the full-length names.

Should we have two sets of names: full name and short name?
Simply cutting off the full name does not always work:
 Headphone LFE 1    -->  Headphon
 Headphone 1        -->  Headphon
 Headphone Center 1 -->  Headphon

Both yes.
Check the mixer controls from the above table.
The problem was a typo in the emu10k1 driver code
which mixed up the controls in the above table.

It is my understanding that LiveDrive has better quality
inputs than the rear card, but a good professional measure-test
would be a great to see. Has anyone tested audio cards with
professional test equipments?

Also, I had a problem in getting MIDI connectors of LiveDrive
working. That was solved with "enable_ir=1" in the modules config.
That is confusing as enable_ir sounds like "enable infra red".
But "enable_ir" enables both MIDI and IR.

I posted IR remote control codes to linux-audio-dev some months ago.
All kind of players should support the remote control.

Actually, because digital TV in future offers Internet browsing with
a TV remote control, then why would not Linux have similar simple
control for its software. Different applications could be choosen
and used with the remote only. Using computer could not be simpler
than that. No patent pending. Note that in many families, there is
only one nerd who actually knows the computer, and then there are
plenty of people who can only operate a TV remote. It would make
sense to make Linux (or MS Windows or Mac!) usable with a remote.

Juhana
