-aby- Mochamad Radityo It’s quite often that I look around and notice that more and more each day people care more about the packaging rather than the content. And every time I see those people, I like to label them in a way that my grandma would understand. Let me break it down to you… You will find that there are a lot off “high-maintained” looking ladies fully equiped in their Christian Louboutin Shoes, Chanel handbags, and Hermes scarfs. They go all out just to show others that they are a somebody. It really doesn’t matter if they really earned those fashion apparels or not, it’s just that most of the time, if you really get the chance to talk to some of them, they don’t know much about what’s going on around them…. Let alone discussing about what is happening in this world. I like to call them the “HIV ( Hemang Ike Vikirin )” madams. There’s a certain young man I had the privilege to encounter one day at a certain five star hotel located in the centre of Jakarta. He was wearing a Hugo Boss suit, Testoni shoes, and the ever present Nokia Communicator. But each time we tried to have a deeper conversation with him about his business, this little soft voice in my head keeps whispering: “this moron don’t know $#!T”. When he left, we labelled the guy and those like him: “Keberatan Jas”. There is also a trend of successful businessmen marrying or keeping (melihara) “high-maintanance” women, namely famous and beautiful ones, and of course young fashion models. These are the kind of people that would buy a LV apparel just because it has the name “LV” branded on them. So we’ll call them the “CW” people… “cowok merek” and “cewek matre”. Just a few little examples around me which shows that there are a lot of middle-up class people who care more about the packaging. They don’t seem to care whether a person has accomplished a lot in helping other people, or whether a person has studied so hard just to be knowledgable, or even wether a person just simply has a good heart. Please don’t hate me for writing this. I’m not judging anyone here. I’m not even saying that these kind of people are the reflection of our entire society. But you can’t deny the fact that they really do exist, and they have made themselves to be very much noticeable and even adored.
