Hi,

Amanda has now run 4 times on my network. The past three times it has included
samba shares for various NT workstations. Why are the incrementals so huge on
these? Relevant information follows. --- Eric

Here are lines of three consecutive reports for one share:

                Dumper  Stats                   Taper   STATS
Level   Orig KB out-KB  comp%   MMM:SS  KB/S    MMM:SS  KB/S
0       5183128 2168640 41.8    2:02    198.6   11:45   3077.9
1       5173421 2168032 41.9    4:01    196.4   11:45   3076.7
1       5176049 2168768 41.9    4:59    195.4   11:51   3050.5

Here's another samba share, shows the same pattern:

                Dumper  Stats                   Taper   STATS
Level   Orig KB out-KB  comp%   MMM:SS  KB/S    MMM:SS  KB/S
0       1550873 870464  56.1    64:51   223.7   4:48    3020.9
1       1504256 848256  56.4    68:28   206.5   4:40    3030.3
1       1506087 849600  56.4    117:11  120.8   4:36    3082.3

Here are the dumptype settings used for these shares:

define dumptype css-global {
    comment "CSS Global definitions"
    index yes
    program "GNUTAR"
}

define dumptype css-nt-workstations {
    css-global
    comment "User's Windows NT workstations"
    priority medium
    compress client best
}

Here are the lines from disklist:
navajo.hq.consys.com //vekol/data css-nt-workstations
navajo.hq.consys.com //wildflower/c_backup css-nt-workstations

Hardware compression on the tape is disabled.
