Hello all,

Lately I've been having severe problems with amflush. Using tar 1.13.17,
amdump runs fine, when I forget to change the tape, it backs up to the
holding disk without a problem (the STRANGEness is socket ignored, etc.):

*** A TAPE ERROR OCCURRED: [cannot overwrite active tape daily14].
Some dumps may have been left in the holding disk.
Run amflush to flush them to tape.
The next tape Amanda expects to use is: daily15.

When I try to amflush however, I get something like the following:

The dumps were flushed to tape daily15.
*** A TAPE ERROR OCCURRED: [[writing file: Bad file descriptor]].
Some dumps may have been left in the holding disk.
Run amflush again to flush them to tape.
The next tape Amanda expects to use is: daily1.

This has happened several times now with different tapes. I always make
sure the tape is rewound. I'm using client fast compression. The tape
drive is an HP C5686A DAT40i, and is defined in amanda.conf as:

define tapetype HP-DAT40i {
    comment "HP SureStore DAT40i"
    length 19560 mbytes
    filemark 1147 kbytes
    speed 2957 kps

I get the feeling I'm missing something simple, but can't get around the
mental block. Can someone give me a clue? Thanks!
