Are there gzip'd file in the bottom level (__windbox_Users) directory?
Do they look "normal" if you view them, i.e. a simple listing of directory
and file names?
Are the ownership and permissions on all the directories and files in the
index area such that amindexd can get to them (i.e. the user inetd/xinetd
runs it as)?
What do you get if you run "amadmin <config> find <samba-host>
//winbox/Users"? Does it show a level 0 as well as some incrementals?
Other than the above, I think we'd need to see the amindexd*debug file.
You might take a look through it and see if it complained about anything.
