vfs(vtapes) and holding pools

when using amanda with vfs are holding pools still needed?  can (or 
should) they be on the same physical disks?  is amanda smart enough to 
handle it as a move operation, or will it insist on shuffling the data 
around?  if there's only one small OS drive (40-80GB) and one LARGE data 
pool in my backup server, would I be better off running without a 
holding pool?  would amanda still be smart enough to run multiple DLEs 
at once?
