Greetings,

It’s been a long spring and summer. At BETSOL we’re (sigh) very nearly done
with our new Django-based UI for Zmanda 4.0 based on Amanda 3.5.1. Along with
that, we have several updates that need review and we’d like to get in to the
community version we support. Hopefully enough to call it 3.6?

- Still need to consistently update the build (old stuff)

o Hasn’t been reviewed but it’s also been changing for us all through the
summer.

- Large updates to NDMP (in ndmp-src)

o Using dynamic memory for lists and data structures so protocol messages are
not limited in numbers.

o A better KEEPALIVE protocol setting so very large transfers don’t time out
the control/info TCP sessions.

o Explicit use of the common-src tcp ports so firewalled ports are correctly
picked from “low/root” or “h/non-root” port lists.

- Updates to Amsamba.pl

o Big work simply to update, clean up, and eliminate troublesome warnings.

o Use of “-A” authorization ‘file’ to communicate to smbclient (as PASSWD_FD
caused problems often)

o Consistent use of open3 for checks / backups / restores

- Upcoming work in server-src

o To prevent oversized shared-memory buffers for S3 (512MB?!?!)

o More consistent use of a ring buffer in several places.

Thanks in advance.
