Try to find the error shortly before the reported one, it should hopefully tell more what is causing it. You may have to increase the log level a bit to see it. The 2.4.0 brings some improvements in SQL error handling, at least it should better report the problem. It is compatible with 2.3.3 config file, so you can switch back to 2.3.3 if you don't like 2.4.0 for some reason.
