I think you need to explain this more, running them with 1.5M? them is  
postfix? amavis?

I am running postfix and amavis, and recently switched to policyd,  
normally have anywhere between 200-600 postfix smtpd sessions open at  
any given time, with 40 amavis children running. Memory usage stays  
pretty consistant, except when some new virus/spam/dictionary attack  
happens, then it uses around 1gig of extra memory till it's over.  
Memory usage stays pretty consistant around 4gigs. I have looked at  
trimming smtpd down so it didn't use so much, but figured it would be  
a real pain to do, and well, memory isn't that hard to install.
