With regard to the checkstyle duplication comment two possible solutions:
1) Deploy the checkstyle configuration to an url (eg.
repository.amdatu.org/checkstyle.xml) and configure that. However this will
fail in an offline build.. so option 2.
2) Make the etc stuff a proper artifact, expand it in your build target
directory before checkstyle execution and use your relative path.
