It really does seem to be incorrect for a chip with 4k bootloader. Having just looked back into the atmega2561 appl directory I just realized there isn't a makefile (or I suppose, a bat file for windows) with the amforth defauts in it. I was just getting ready to burn this into old 3D printer mega when I saw Tristan had already done just that. Good luck with the project!
