Thanks for the info, Janne!  When you said that, it got me to reading the
docs again on the new release and found that I was setting the serial
settings in the wrong place.  I was using the Amiga's Serial Prefs for
setting the speed but the actual speed was set in ENV:amigancp.config.

I even pumped up the serial connection speed to 115200 on both the Series5
and the amigancp.config and got them talking at 3.8K to 5K per second.
I'm using the standard Amiga 3000 with 68060/50 and Cgx64 graphics card.
I get a pretty consistent 3.8K per second at 57600.
