Hi Olli and everyone else.
Well, I'll try to resume the AmIRC crashes on my computer. First of all,
I am running the following, according to Exchange:
- OS 3.1
- ARQ 1.83
- Cyberblanker
- Magic Menu (uhm... I can't get a version info here ##%$#)
- MaxonMagic 2.0
- MCP 1.32 (dunno if it is a beta or not, I installed it a really long
long time ago)
- NewIcons V40.6
- NewMode 3.9
- Toolmanager 3.1
- WBBump 2.0
So here the description...
Situation 1: I got AmIRC running, without any problem, and hide the main
window, so only the channel list window is opened. Now I start YAM2.0 from
within Toolmanager. While still loading the program, I press the window
button in order to uniconify the channel. Crash and reboot.
Situation 2: AmIRC running just as in 1., channel hidden. Meanwhile an ARexx
script outputs with the echo command to the channel window. I try to
uniconify the channel window and get a crash, reboot.
Happens about 2 out of 10 times.
Situation 3: YAM2.0 is running and just retrieved my email. Now it starts a
script that outputs via ARexx to AmIRC (echo command). As soon as the script
starts to execute (AmIRC running, of course), crash and reboot.
This happens about 5 out of 10 times, the other times it executes well.
Also, it rarely happens that the script crashes after starting, while
executing; in that case I use to get a Software Failure window, with
task name "Arexx" (or was it "rx" ?). After cancelling it, I can go on
using the computer and anything else.
I got the latest Kuang11 running with AmIRC, without any problems. Perhaps
something is wrong with the ARexx port of AmIRC... no idea.
The ARexx script mentioned in 2. and 3. is YAM2AmIRC, from my software
support page. If you need an unoptimized copy, I can send you one.
Anyway, all of this started to happen since I installed AmIRC3.1 (wasn't
home when 3.0 came out, so after 2.2 came 3.2 directly). Before that, and
with practically the same system config, I never had any crashes or
problems.
Of course, AmIRC 3.2 registered as well as 2.2 before.
