I wrote a script and a few programs that do the following...
One program checks extensions, so that .mp3 and .mid files get sent to the
proper player (mpega for mp3 files, GMPlay for midi files)
If the above two sets don't grab the file, Another program knows (rudimentary)
the difference between a normal wave and a compressed one and according to the
Fail or not in the script passes the filename to either mpega(for compressed)
or play16(for normal) to play.
If anyone is interested, I could post these to my FTP site (The script will
require modifications for each system, and I can't guarantee the programs
will always work)
Also wrote another script that does a STATUS on the above sound programs and
sends a CTRL-C stop to any of them that are currently running (Useful for
stopping an annoying sound)
