The version reply can be modified or even removed if you use a plugin to
recognize the request and just make Amirc ignore it. (Currently I have a
plugin that adds a PLUGIN response that gets sent then AmIRC gets to send
it's own VERSION response)
And, yes - I would be a good idea to remove the Reg number from the Version
reply. (Leave in a pirated message, if a key number is known to be pirated)
