I may have a different problem (other than that /reconnect bug):
I know why AmIRC crashes: it eats up too much memory and/or writes into
areas not allowed to. I found this out now after running daily to find out
the same problem reoccuring within serversal hours after resetting. Here's
my setup:
A4000T
144MB Fast RAM installed
Cyberstorm 060/PPC
CybervisionPPC videocard
PicassoII videocard
several storage devices installed
several fans installed
still using Amiga video for older apps
used to have Picasso96 operating the video, but now have CyberGraphix v3
operating because P96 v2.0 doesn't have CybervisionPPC driver :(
I used to have probs with garbage graphics, but that's related to
power Y-connector failures. (Ask me why.) I reshaped the pins inside the
Y-connectors to keep it from cutting the power in & out.
After several hours of operation, I begin to notice that every time AmIRC
picks up a new line, it does something to chip ram/AGA side. I have AmIRC
set to hold 3000 lines per channel, having 7-8 windows open at the same
time, but what bugs me is I have AmIRC on CybervisionPPC screen instead of
AGA and it is eating up chip memory. And, in some cases, writes to the AGA
registers only to find out my AGA video sync changed (instead of NTSC it
changes to Multisync). Furthermore, it would lock out all screens on AGA
that I can't get any to open and force a full reset on my system.
UPDATE: it hurts the system even more if any public-chat window is
extra-large.
I was told that CGX is unreliable when it comes to preserve screens such
as AGA. Does anyone have this problem with Cybergraphix and which version
you are using? Are you using NTSC video and does it "change" screens or
videosync when it isn't supposed to?
Was there recently a new boopsi or mui class recently released from vapor?
I've updated textinput.mcc to v27.1 (available on vapor site)
