What's the number of bytes in stack? Go into Infomation of the AmIRC icon
and see if it's less than 64000. I increased mine and seems that I'm not
crashing anymore. Of course, 1 user set his to 500000, but that may slow
down his system a bit to work with that huge stack.
Try increasing stack size in all your applications and see if that helps.
