The art-13 mod Iron works very well in the DX-100. The third winding used for feedfack smooths it out nice, down to 50 Hz. My Dx-100 loves it, and it fit!! The turns ratio gives me +120% modulation positive peaks. My tranny was in a 813/811A rig years ago and it sounded OK, but not super HiFi (200-5Khz), but I did not have a feedback loop around the audio at that time. I'm sure the ART-13 had no feedback loop in it... just uded the third winding to modulate the 813 screen (waste)instead of the plate dropping resistor. Neg feedback makes it sound great. George AB2KC

They don't look like they have a lot of core cross section. Still, it might be fun to build something up using one. Has anyone had good results with this mod iron? I don't expect a high powered rig; just somehting different from my DX-100 or Viking II. I thought I'd build up the modulator, get that working, then move onto an RF deck. Any thoughts?
