Mike, my experience with 40 has been a lot different due to the more 'propogationally-volatile' nature of the band. Someone mentioned over the long weekend that 40 had started to settle down some, so perhaps we'll see better opportunities there soon. I know there has been some AM activity down much lower on that band. Folks need to get used to the idea of finding an open frequency and using it. Simple as that. If half the people who say "I tuned down below but didn't hear anyone" actually put out a call, think of the activity there'd be. Waiting for someone else to do it for you won't provide good results. There are maybe 2 dozen folks down between 3705-3725 regularly, not counting the Canadians. A few more if you add the guys who use 3685. I hear Brian, Kent, and the old dawg down there when the band is quiet enough, so I know there's regular activity in other parts of the country too. Old habits just die harder for some folks. The 160 ant is on the 'to do' list, that should help my signal. Was using the 80m low dipole into a T with a large broadcast dummy load into the other side. It works, but that's about it. Your signal was large and loud into VT. ~ Todd, KA1KAQ ______________________________________________________________ Our Main Website: http://www.amfone.net AMRadio mailing list List Rules (must read!): http://w5ami.net/amradiofaq.html List Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/amradio Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.html Post: mailto:AMRadio@mailman.qth.net To unsubscribe, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word unsubscribe in the message body.
