Enzo, It is definitely harder to access on the L uplink than on the rarely used V uplink, but it does work. It requires significantly more ERP, and you may find that it works better either approaching or receding due to SC antenna location.
Many of us have found 1268.703-1268.705 MHz to be a better uplink. Also, some rigs/transverters can be off a few kHz at that frequency, so it would be worth trying slightly different frequencies. Step it up or down 1 kHz at a time and see what you find. Make certain your deviation is correct. You are usually better off to be a bit low than high. Finally, what TNC and interface are you using? Some seem to work better than others in this application.
