I don't think so, we should minimize the number of compile things with
amsn,
mainly if we don't use it in core. What if some other plugin will need
another package? Are we going to include that with aMSN too?
This is a main GUI thing. It can be used all over the gui of amsn. To
drop files, contacts, text, to organise contacts in your list, to drag
contacts to a convo for a groupconvo .. to drag an image to hte place
where your DP is to put it as a new dp etc ... I really think this
*should* be in core. all modern software uses DnD .. even since the
'90s ... we should use it as much as possible as it's so more natural to
drop a file then to select it in a filebrowser! (for example)

50% agree.. yes, in core, yes, for all kind of things... no, not for every
single thing you could ever find! drop in DP place is nice to change DP, I
agree on that...
but for all the rest.. nope, because you can do all that just with amsn..
the tkdnd is for drag and drop support from/to amsn to/from other
applications.. so drag/drop a contact to a convo would work without tkdnd

What we could do is add an option "requirements" option to plugin.
aMSN will
check if the specific package is needed and if not, it will popup an
error
message "You need $package to run this plugin. See $url for install
instrution." And package and url is replaced by the "requirements"
option in
the plugin.
Another option is to create an "tcltk-extras" package that would be
shipped
outside of the core containing all the extra packages.
But whatever you decide, it definitly shouldn't be included with the
plugin.
