Well the idea is completelly flawed, from the ground up ! How is it possible to measure Horse power, just from acelerometer and position only ? What about gear ratio, tire slip, gross precision, etc... Calculating average speed and stuff like that is possible, and as been done many times before, using GPS or even Mobile antennas with triangulation. But name one real application where this is actually useful to be on a mobile phone ? And what about pollish ? does it feel pollished ?
And what about JOYity ? If that's a game I don't know what the heck I have been playing the last 25 years ! That looks more like a framework to build games on top of it, possibly "text adventures" with a map ! Heck, the Web Game I was Lead developer for 9 months, is far better than that (http://Almansur.net/) althought it's played on a browser, not specifically on a mobile phone. And I can't think of any of the 4 parameters where this application would rank a high score ! (yes it uses a map, but so what ?) Besides this, mobile games with GPS location, exist since 2003 "undercover", and then again 2005 "Undercover 2", both released by Portuguese company YDreams, and they were huge success, but compare screenshots and you will be amazed on how JOYity got in the top 50 ! And JigSaw ? Scale/transform a picture so that it's rectangular again !? The algorihtms may be good and all, but really does it bring any added value, when you already can take pictures of a white board with a regular mobile camera ? It doesn't seem to do any kind of OCR or similarly advanced processing, to be really worthy of its position ! These 3 entries in particular are very odd to be in the first 50, at least, taking into account, what they show about themselves. There are more "strange" apps, but these 3 are really out of the bag. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Challenge" group.
