Yeah, if you are already entrenched with over a year's worth of downloads you are good. But if you want to develop a new app don't even bother if that search term has tons of free apps because your entry will be way deep where you will never get any exposure.
The problem is you can't search for just pool game apps. If you type pool you are saddled with swimming pool, pool screen savers, pool this pool that and all sorts of nonsense upto 80-100 results. Can't they just put an option for sports games category there or free and paid apps separation or just copy the adwords algorithm right over here replace clicks with downloads?
