Well, I don't think this is really a "bug" in the traditional sense, but an adverse interaction between two pieces of code. The phone should checkpoint the filesystem when it goes to sleep, just in case. The filesystem should probably also not worry about cleanup on checkpointed filesystem, because in the usual case its wasteful. So, here we get an unexpected result when two optimizations meet.
