Yes, I have used the sample programs in Eclipse and they worked out of the box for me. I'm not having enough knowledge to say the cause of error you are getting. But it seems it is not finding the R (the resource class). You might have messed with something in the sample code? Or you can try to "clean" the project from Eclipse. Good luck!
