Just to complete the thread, the Run button can be added through the 
following steps:

1 - Right click on a blank area of the toolbar and clicking on "Customize 
Perspective"

2 - Open the Command Group Availability tab in the Customize Perspective 
dialog and then enable the Launch group.

3 - Switch to the Tool Bar Visibility tab in the Customize Perspective 
dialog and then you can enable either the Debug or Run buttons on the 
toolbar.

Then when you hit Run or Debug on the toolbar, the Run Configurations 
dialog will come up and you can choose where to send the app (either a 
device or an AVD).
