When did getting it "back to stock" have anything to do with this?

Perhaps I'll try again: 1.1 didn't go to developers before it went to
end-user phones. 1.1 didn't go to Android's primary developer's
developer phone, the ADP1, before it went to end-user phones. I'm not
sure how much more succinctly I could state the problems with the 1.1
update cycle.

Free or not, open source or not, for Android developers the 1.1 update
cycle has been unprofessional at best.
