Yes, once the Market application is fixed so I don't get bad ratings
for failed downloads, installations and "force close" issues after an
update.
I haven't seen my game crash ever (except during development) and I
haven't had not even 1 bug/crash report for it but then I started
updating it and I got an avalanche of force close comments along with
1 star ratings. These comments and ratings surely hurt the paid
version, although it doesn't have bad ratings and comments (and is
rated > 4.50).

There's something else - there will be always users who like free
apps, not willing to pay, who post bad comments, and give bad ratings
simply because the free app is limited compared to the paid app. I had
a 2-star rating with the comment "great game, but 2 short - only 9
levels" (it had 10). So, when I publish an update to my game this week
I'll publish a free version as well, but will remove it in less than
month. I'll also publish the free version under a *different* name so
it has a chance to start w/o the bad Market app-related comments, even
though it won't have ~10K downloads as the removed one had before I
removed it 3 weeks after I released it.

Cheers
