Require? Where is this policy change specified? At http://developer.android.com/guide/publishing/versioning.html I read about minSdkVersion "If you do not specify this attribute in your manifest, the system assumes that your application is compatible with all platform versions". I aim to maintain backward compatibility down to 1.0 while supporting new SDK 1.5 features when available on the phone, and assumed therefore that I could (still) leave out the minSdkVersion.
