Actually, this is not at all far fetched. In fact, you can do that
*right now with current hardware*, the only issue is that 'droid (the
software) doesn't support usb master mode or any of the fancy load-on-
plugin functions.

You don't actually need to have several usb plugs to support multiple
usb devices; if you are connecting multiple usb devices, use a usb
hub.

With a little work on the 'droid software, you could *easily* plug a
usb device or (hub+devices) into any current droid handheld.


of course, as someone else mentioned, bluetooth might be a better
approach...
for one, bluetooth devices don't need to take power from the usb
host...
i.e., you wouldn't be able to get enough power out of a phone to run
your usb-powered scanner, or probably even a mouse. It would have to
be powered externally, which is another layer of mess that you would
be carting around with you.
